John Dory’s at Ballito Junction will be vying for the top spots in two categories of The North Coast Courier’s Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards this year – Best Family Restaurant and Best Sushi outlet.

This comes after John Dory’s was voted among the top five last year for their sushi.

Being nominated for a second year running, manager Malusi Msomi said they were very excited and felt they had already won purely by being nominated.

“We obviously must be doing something right. We pride ourselves on delivering great quality, not only on the plates, but also by creating lasting memories with our diners.”

He said they believed they were nominated because of their consistency, always striving to give their best.

“It’s about the vision. To know where you are going you need to know where you are coming from,” he said, explaining their vision is to remain the first restaurant of choice for fish, grill and sushi.

Staying ahead of the competition, he said, is achieved by continuous training programmes for all staff and consistency in presentation. Workshops for sushi chefs are held monthly to ensure they stay on top of their game.

“Our products are also sourced through approved suppliers and we draw expertise from the franchise,” he said.

“Our dishes are unique. We are not imitators, but rather creators of signature dishes and experiences, with past reviewers commenting that our dishes are out of this world,” he said.

While giving praise to his staff, Msomi also extended thanks to the Ballito community for nominating them.

“It’s just a tap on the back to show us the community sees our vision. We would like to carry on supporting our locals and ensure we always provide the best plate of grill, fish and sushi in Ballito.”
