Mark Justham, the driving force behind Justham Pools, and winner of The Best Pool Company for 2025 Best of Durban competition, has a clear philosophy: build strong relationships, deliver top-notch service, and the rest follows. Last year, his company was crowned Best Pool Company in the Best of Durban Readers’ Choice Awards – and the effects are still making waves.
“Winning really elevated our brand across Durban,” says Mark. “It reinforced the trust our clients place in us and energised the team. Recognition like this confirms that the care, effort, and standards we bring to every project are genuinely valued.”
When it came to encouraging clients to vote, Mark kept things simple and genuine. “We sent personal emails thanking our clients for their support and inviting them to vote. Because our relationships are built on trust, the response was amazing. People naturally want to back a business they feel connected to.”
For those thinking of entering this year’s awards, he has some advice: “Consistency is everything. Deliver great service every time, communicate clearly, and always follow through.
Awards aren’t won overnight – they’re earned through the relationships you build well before voting begins.”
Mark adds that the accolade hasn’t changed his business approach; it’s reinforced it. “We’ve always focused on quality workmanship, reliability, and strong client relationships. The recognition simply motivates us to maintain those standards and keep improving.”
Outside the world of pools, Mark’s competitive spirit doesn’t fade. He’s an active member of the Durban Ski Boat Club, participating in interclub and fishing competitions – handling logistics, sponsorships, and events. “It keeps things interesting and allows me to enjoy a completely different kind of teamwork,” he says with a grin.
Whether in the boardroom or on the water, Mark Justham proves that excellence and passion make a winning combination – both in business and in life.
The fun fact moment
If your business were an animal, what would it be and why?
An octopus as they are highly adaptable, intelligent, and capable of managing multiple tasks at once. Our business covers everything from maintenance and repairs to new builds and renovations, and like an octopus, we’re able to handle complexity while staying co-ordinated and efficient. Every team member plays a key role, but together we operate as one.
