The Upper Highway Baby Home World’s Biggest Baby Shower was a success as they collected much needed items for disadvantaged mothers and babies in surrounding areas.
The home, which won Best Community Upliftment Organisation category, is situated in the heart of Summerveld. It was started by Gary and Kerry Stanton and has been in operation since January 2019.
The home cares for vulnerable and abandoned babies who need somewhere safe to stay and be loved and grow until they join their forever families or are reunited with their parents.
In celebration on Mandela Day, the home hosted the World’s Biggest Shower where they collected 15 000 nappies, 1500 packs of wet wipes, 62 tonnes of supplies in total including massive haul of gently used baby supplies
“On top of this we were able to supply 30 of our saving future moms a baby bath filled with supplies. These included clothes for both baby and mom, soaps and hygiene items, blankets and towels, porridge and so much more.
“This would not have been possible without the generous help of the community. All items collected will be used to help all of our young moms and babies in surrounding areas,” said Kerry Stanton.
Kerry thanked everyone who participated. “We couldn’t have done this without you.”
