Chairman of the Umhlali Country Club, André Bojé, said he was not surprised that their golf course had been nominated as one of the best in this year’s North Coast Courier Best of Ballito Readers’ Choice Awards.
Bojé said they mostly receive positive feedback from out of province golfers who frequently visit the club.
“They always compliment us on the welcoming nature of the club’s staff, who go out of their way to meet players’ needs. Being a Peter Matkovich redesigned golf course, the prevailing atmosphere, camaraderie and quality advice offered to golfers makes it a favoured course.
“We treat our members and guests alike. Whether they are residents or not, everybody is treated as an honorary member of the club,” said Bojé.
“Our golf course always offers the best experience,” he said, adding that golfers also give high praise to the quality of the “19th hole” and restaurant facilities.
The golf course was originally constructed in 1973 and was affectionally referred to as the ‘Gem of the North Coast’.
Bojé said players of all levels enjoy the well laid out and challenging course.
“I m particularly fond of the 4th hole. It is always mentally challenging with one needing to compensate for both water and wind speed direction,” he said.
